New York Weather Alert: Lake Effect Snow Expected East of Lake Ontario This Weekend

Buffalo, NY – Upstate New York will see milder temperatures this weekend, but lake effect snow remains a concern, particularly east of Lake Ontario.

According to the National Weather Service in Buffalo, temperatures on Saturday, Feb. 22, will range from highs of 28–34°F, with some sunshine in western New York. Snow showers will diminish east of Lake Ontario. Overnight lows will drop to 18–24°F, with light lake effect snow expected off Lake Erie and several inches possible near Lake Ontario.

On Sunday, Feb. 23, highs will climb slightly to 30–36°F, while lows will range from 20–28°F. Lake effect snow will persist near Lake Ontario, with lighter flurries expected off Lake Erie.

Drivers should prepare for potential snow-covered roads, especially in areas prone to lake effect bands. Travelers heading east of Lake Ontario should monitor forecasts and be cautious of rapidly changing conditions.
