Rensselaer, NY – Rain returns to eastern New York Wednesday night, threatening travel across the Capital Region and cooling down summer-like highs by Thursday.

According to the National Weather Service in Albany, showers could begin late Wednesday evening with a 70% chance of steady rain developing after 2 a.m. into Thursday. South winds up to 9 mph may push heavier bands of rain along the I-90 and Route 9 corridors, especially impacting early Thursday commuters in Albany, Troy, and Rensselaer. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter inch are possible.

Thursday night stays damp, with a 40% chance of lingering showers before clearing into a partly sunny Friday with highs near 73°F. A stronger round of showers could return Saturday afternoon, with rain chances rising to 60%.
