Buffalo, NY – A burst of spring sunshine will warm Buffalo on Sunday, offering a much-needed break before showers and storms return by Tuesday night. Residents across Erie County and along the I-90 corridor should take advantage of the sunny, dry stretch before rain and possible thunderstorms disrupt travel and outdoor plans midweek.

According to the National Weather Service, Sunday brings mostly sunny skies with highs near 58°F and a welcome drop in wind speeds, making it ideal for outdoor activities or travel on major routes like I-90 and Main Street. Sunday night remains clear and cool, with lows around 39°F and light northwest winds, setting up a calm start to the week.

Monday continues the trend with sunny skies and a high near 66°F. Winds stay light, providing comfortable spring conditions for commutes and errands across Buffalo, Tonawanda, and Cheektowaga. By Monday night, expect mostly clear skies and lows in the mid-50s.

However, changes arrive Tuesday. Showers and possible thunderstorms could impact the region after 4 p.m., with the heaviest rain expected Tuesday night. Southwest winds may gust as high as 30 mph, making evening travel on the I-190 and other local roads potentially hazardous. The chance of precipitation jumps to 70% overnight, with new rainfall amounts up to half an inch possible.

Wednesday brings relief as partly cloudy skies and cooler temps settle in, followed by more showers likely Thursday and Friday.

Five-Day Buffalo Spring Weather Outlook:

  • Sunday: Sunny, high 58°F
  • Monday: Sunny, high 66°F
  • Tuesday: Partly sunny, showers late, high 68°F
  • Wednesday: Partly cloudy, low 41°F
  • Thursday–Friday: Showers likely, highs near 59°F
