Buffalo, New York – Flash flooding and damaging winds could impact travel and power lines across western New York Tuesday afternoon, especially near Buffalo.

According to the National Weather Service in Buffalo, a “Slight Risk” for excessive rainfall and a “Marginal Risk” for severe thunderstorms remain in place through Tuesday evening, June 10. The most intense downpours are expected between 3 p.m. and 10 p.m., with isolated storms capable of producing 40 mph wind gusts, especially near major roadways like I-190, Route 33, and NY-198.

Localized flooding is possible in urban areas and low-lying roads. Residents should avoid unnecessary travel after 4 p.m. and charge devices in case of outages. Spotter activation is not expected at this time, but emergency crews are on alert for flash flood reports.

By Tuesday night, conditions improve as showers taper off and skies gradually clear. Sunshine and a warming trend arrive Wednesday, pushing highs into the low 70s with calm winds — a welcome break from Monday’s and Tuesday’s turbulent pattern.
