Albany, NY – Residents in New York are advised to prepare for an active weather day as a cold front from the west moves through the region, bringing scattered rain showers and thunderstorms. According to the National Weather Service in Albany, some of these storms may become severe, producing damaging wind gusts and heavy rainfall. The primary concern for today is the potential for localized flooding, especially in poor drainage areas.

The Weather Prediction Center has placed parts of eastern New York under a marginal risk for excessive rainfall, which could result in rapid-onset flooding. Areas such as Albany, Schenectady, and Saratoga Springs are included in this risk zone. As the cold front advances, expect temperatures to reach a high of 81°F with a 70% chance of rain, primarily in the afternoon and evening.

Looking ahead, cooler air will settle in on Tuesday, with temperatures dropping to a high of 71°F under partly cloudy skies. The cool trend will continue midweek, with Wednesday bringing another chance of showers, though less intense, with a high of 68°F. The latter half of the week is expected to be dry and pleasant, with temperatures gradually rising back into the upper 70s by the weekend, offering a respite from the wet start to the week.
