Binghamton, N.Y. – Storms will roll into the Southern Tier by Sunday afternoon, bringing an 80% chance of showers and possible thunderstorms with gusty winds that could disrupt travel and weekend plans.

According to the National Weather Service in Binghamton, scattered thunderstorms are expected to develop after 2 p.m. Sunday, with some becoming strong enough to produce damaging wind gusts. Storms may continue through the evening hours, especially along major roadways like Interstate 81, making travel risky into the night.

Patchy fog could reduce visibility in the early morning hours Sunday and again Monday, especially in low-lying areas around the Susquehanna River Valley. Winds will shift from calm to light southeast Sunday morning before increasing slightly by the afternoon.

  • Thursday: A break in the rain. Partly sunny and 63°F.
  • Friday: Mostly sunny skies return. Highs in the mid-60s.
