Albany, NY – A messy mix of snow and rain will hit eastern New York Tuesday morning, just in time to complicate travel along I-90.

According to the National Weather Service in Albany, a low-pressure system will move through the region, bringing snow before 10 a.m. Tuesday, followed by rain as temperatures climb into the upper 40s. Roads across Rensselaer, Albany, and surrounding areas may become slick during the early commute, especially in higher elevations.

Travelers along the I-90 corridor should plan for slower speeds and possible delays during the morning hours. While accumulation is expected to stay under half an inch, even minor snow and slush can reduce traction. Visibility may also drop briefly during periods of snowfall.

By late Tuesday morning, precipitation will shift fully to rain as spring temperatures rebound. Conditions will improve into the afternoon with a high near 49°F and light southwest winds.

Looking ahead, the rest of the week offers some relief from winter-like conditions:

  • Wednesday: Slight chance of rain or snow before 2 p.m. with highs in the mid-40s.
  • Thursday: Mostly sunny, highs near 48°F.
  • Friday: Slight chance of rain returns, high around 46°F.
  • Saturday: Rain likely, highs in the low 50s.

With spring officially underway, residents should expect continued fluctuations. Keep an umbrella and layers handy, and check local forecasts for day-to-day updates.
