Binghamton, New York – Locally heavy rainfall and a risk of flash flooding will remain a concern in Binghamton through Tuesday as a multi-day storm system lingers over central New York.

According to the National Weather Service in Binghamton, a 100% chance of showers and thunderstorms is in place Tuesday, with rainfall totals possibly exceeding a half inch in some areas. Storms may repeatedly move over the same locations, increasing the risk of excessive rainfall and isolated flash flooding. A marginal flood risk remains active through Tuesday night.

Commuters should be alert for water pooling on roadways and reduced visibility along I-81, NY-17, and surface streets. Gusty southeast winds up to 20 mph may also accompany heavier storms. Monday already brought scattered showers and thunderstorms, and saturated ground conditions could heighten flooding potential.

By Wednesday, the region will begin to dry slightly, though a 60% chance of lingering showers remains. Highs will stay in the mid to upper 60s through the midweek, with a return to sunshine expected by Friday.

Binghamton 5-Day Spring Forecast:

  • Tuesday: Showers, thunderstorms, high 71°F (100% chance).
  • Wednesday: More showers, high 69°F (60% chance).
  • Thursday: Cloudy, chance of rain, high 60°F.
  • Friday: Mostly sunny, high 62°F.
  • Saturday: Sunny and dry, high 67°F.
