Albany, NY – Light to moderate snow is forecast for the Albany area beginning Friday morning, with accumulation expected through Saturday morning. Residents and commuters are urged to prepare for slippery roads and reduced visibility during peak travel times.

According to the National Weather Service, snowfall will begin Friday afternoon, increasing in intensity by the evening commute. Total accumulation of 2–4 inches is expected in Albany, with higher amounts possible in surrounding areas, including Herkimer and Cobleskill. The snowfall will taper off early Saturday, followed by a significant drop in temperatures.

Friday’s high will reach near 32°F before falling to the low 20s overnight. Winds of 5–10 mph will add to the chill, and drivers should exercise caution, especially on major thoroughfares like Interstate 87 and Route 9.

The weekend forecast indicates sunny but cold conditions on Sunday, with highs in the upper teens and lows dropping to single digits Saturday night. Commuters should check updated road conditions and allow extra time for travel, especially during Friday’s snowfall.

Looking ahead, Monday will bring a slight warm-up with sunny skies and highs near 23°F.

Local authorities recommend that residents stock up on essentials, clear walkways, and monitor weather updates. Stay informed and travel safely.
