Binghamton, NY – A wintry mix is forecast to impact portions of upstate New York tonight, with light snow and freezing rain expected to create slick travel conditions into early Monday.

According to the National Weather Service in Binghamton, a low-pressure system will move into the region Sunday evening, bringing snow from the southwest. As temperatures hover near freezing, snow is expected to transition into a wintry mix overnight, with rain becoming more widespread by sunrise Monday.

Most areas, including Binghamton and Wilkes-Barre, will see minimal snow accumulation—a trace to a few tenths of an inch. However, forecasters warn that parts of northern Oneida County and the Catskills could receive 1 to 2 inches of snow. In the Poconos and Catskills, light ice accretion may also occur on elevated surfaces.

Drivers should use caution overnight and during the Monday morning commute. Roads, especially in higher elevations, may be slippery due to light snow and freezing rain. Residents are advised to monitor weather updates and allow extra travel time.

Conditions are expected to improve by late Monday morning as temperatures rise and precipitation changes to rain across most of the region.
