Binghamton, NY – Dry and breezy weather continues this weekend, prompting Red Flag Warnings for parts of New York and Northeast Pennsylvania. Residents in Sullivan and Delaware counties, as well as Wyoming, Luzerne, and Pike counties in PA, are urged to avoid outdoor burning due to elevated fire risks.

According to the National Weather Service, Saturday’s high winds combined with low humidity create hazardous fire conditions. Winds from the northwest could reach up to 21 mph today, with temperatures peaking at 53 degrees in Binghamton. Breezy conditions are expected to persist into Sunday, increasing the risk of wildfires along popular areas like the Route 6 corridor in Pennsylvania.

Sunday will bring mostly cloudy skies with a high of 54 degrees. While calmer winds are forecast, the fire risk remains due to continued dry conditions. By Monday, a slight chance of showers may bring relief, with highs approaching 57 degrees. However, the chance of rain increases significantly midweek, with Wednesday’s forecast calling for up to a 70% likelihood of rain and highs near 58 degrees.

Residents are encouraged to stay vigilant and comply with fire bans. Take precautions when disposing of flammable materials and report any signs of smoke immediately. The Red Flag Warnings remain in effect until conditions improve.

For a full five-day forecast: Binghamton will see lows in the mid-30s most nights this week, with rain likely Wednesday into Thursday. While sunshine dominates early in the week, plan for slick roads later as rain moves through.
