Buffalo, N.Y. – Clusters of rain showers will continue to spin across New York through Sunday night as a stalled low pressure system lingers over the Ohio Valley, bringing widespread damp and cool conditions.
According to the National Weather Service in Buffalo, rainfall totals today and tonight will range from a tenth of an inch in the Saint Lawrence Valley and northern Niagara Frontier to as much as three quarters of an inch across the Finger Lakes region. The heaviest downpours are expected in northern Cayuga and Oswego counties.
Temperatures will stay in the 50s across Western New York, while areas east of Lake Ontario could reach the lower 60s. While the rain won’t be torrential, persistent showers could lead to ponding on roads and minor travel slowdowns in higher-impact zones.
Residents in central and northern New York should keep umbrellas handy and avoid low-lying routes where water may collect. This system continues a wet pattern seen over the last few weeks, particularly across the Finger Lakes and Southern Tier.
Showers are expected to taper off overnight, but another round could return early next week as the low weakens. Updates will follow as conditions evolve.
