Albany, N.Y. – A soggy stretch is underway in eastern New York, with widespread rain expected to impact travel and outdoor plans through early next week.
According to the National Weather Service in Albany, scattered showers will dot the region Friday before becoming more organized and widespread by Saturday. Rain chances will climb to 70–80% across key cities like Albany, Glens Falls, and Poughkeepsie from Saturday through Tuesday, with daytime highs dipping from the 70s into the 50s and 60s by Sunday.
Drivers along I-87 and Route 7 should prepare for slick roads and limited visibility, especially during peak weekend travel times. Outdoor events in Saratoga Springs and Pittsfield may face delays or cancellations due to persistent rain chances through Monday.
Though Friday and Saturday will still feel mild, cooler air returns Sunday, with highs in Cobleskill and Brattleboro dropping to the low 60s. Local officials recommend checking drainage systems and monitoring flood-prone areas, especially with consecutive days of rainfall in the forecast.
Rain chances remain elevated into midweek, with additional advisories possible depending on rainfall totals and localized impacts. Updates will continue from the NWS as the wet pattern persists.
