Binghamton, NY – A winter weather advisory is in effect from 4 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday for parts of New York and Pennsylvania, with a mix of snow, sleet, and freezing rain expected to create hazardous travel conditions.

According to the National Weather Service in Binghamton, up to two inches of snow and sleet may accumulate, along with up to one-tenth of an inch of ice. Affected areas include Broome, Delaware, and Sullivan counties in New York, as well as Lackawanna, Northern Wayne, Pike, Southern Wayne, and Susquehanna counties in Pennsylvania.

Snow will begin early Thursday morning before transitioning to a wintry mix. Freezing rain and drizzle are expected throughout the afternoon before temperatures rise, turning precipitation into rain. Roads, bridges, and overpasses will likely become slick, particularly during the morning commute.

Drivers are urged to slow down and use caution. New York residents can check road conditions by dialing 511, while Pennsylvania travelers can visit 511pa.com for updates.
