New York, NY – Light snow is creating slippery conditions across New York City this morning, complicating holiday travel plans for drivers.

According to the National Weather Service, a fast-moving snow system is bringing light accumulation across the city, with less than an inch expected before midday. Temperatures remain below freezing, and untreated roads are already becoming hazardous due to icy conditions. Drivers are urged to use extra caution while commuting, particularly on local roads and highways like Franklin Street and Broadway.

The snow will taper off by late morning as temperatures rise into the upper 30s, allowing for improved travel conditions by the afternoon. Skies will turn partly cloudy tonight, with a low near 29 degrees, ensuring a chilly but calm Christmas Eve.

Looking ahead, Christmas Day will bring sunny skies and a high near 34 degrees, providing excellent weather for holiday festivities. The calm conditions will continue through the week, with temperatures gradually warming. Thursday and Friday are expected to reach highs of 40 degrees under mostly sunny skies, with no precipitation forecast until late Sunday.

Travelers should check for updates on road conditions and allow extra time for trips this morning. Keeping sidewalks and steps clear of snow will also help prevent slips and falls during the day.
