New York, NY – Freezing rain is creating hazardous conditions across parts of southern Connecticut, northeast New Jersey, and southeast New York early Sunday, with the National Weather Service warning of difficult travel until 11 a.m.
According to the National Weather Service, up to one-tenth of an inch of ice accumulation is expected in Northern Fairfield, Northern New Haven, Northern Middlesex, and Northern New London counties in Connecticut, as well as Western Passaic in New Jersey and Orange and Putnam counties in New York.
Residents are urged to drive with caution and prepare for possible power outages due to ice-covered roads and surfaces. Authorities advise slowing down, staying updated on road conditions through local Department of Transportation services, and being mindful of icy stairs, sidewalks, and driveways to avoid falls.
Freezing rain will taper off by late morning, but lingering ice may still affect travel. More updates are available at weather.gov/nyc.
