Albany, NY – A Flood Watch remains in effect for multiple regions across the northeastern U.S. through Saturday morning and evening, with excessive rainfall posing the risk of flooding in areas that are already saturated. A slow-moving low-pressure system continues to bring significant moisture, raising concerns over river and stream flooding, especially in low-lying areas.

According to the National Weather Service, heavy rainfall of 1.5 to 3 inches is expected through Saturday in portions of New York, Vermont, Massachusetts, Connecticut, Maine, and New Hampshire. In these areas, streams, creeks, and poor drainage zones may experience minor flooding, with localized street flooding in urban centers also possible.

In New York, regions such as Broome, Chenango, Otsego, and parts of the Capital Region face a heightened risk through 8 a.m. Saturday, while Vermont’s Orange, Rutland, and Windsor counties may see rainfall totals of up to 2.5 inches, increasing the likelihood of flooding in creeks and streams.

Massachusetts and Connecticut are also under a Flood Watch, where between 1.5 and 3 inches of rain could trigger localized flooding of roads and waterways, especially in areas that were heavily impacted by rain earlier in the week.

The New Hampshire and Maine regions are also at risk, with up to 3 inches of rain expected. Areas along the Saco River, Merrimack Valley, and Androscoggin County should take precautions as excessive runoff could cause flooding in urban and poor drainage areas.

Flooding impacts are possible through Saturday evening, and residents in these regions should remain vigilant. Those in flood-prone areas are urged to monitor conditions and prepare for potential flooding, with more updates likely as conditions evolve.
