Albany, N.Y. – Much of eastern New York is heading into a significant warmup this week, with highs pushing into the upper 80s and low 90s by Thursday across the Capital Region and the Hudson Valley.

According to the National Weather Service in Albany, temperatures will steadily rise through midweek, peaking around 90°F in Albany, Kingston, Catskill and Saratoga Springs on Thursday. Poughkeepsie is expected to hit 91°F—potentially the region’s hottest day so far this year.

Communities including Gloversville, Cobleskill, and Pittsfield will also see temperatures in the upper 80s by midweek, marking a stark shift from the cooler conditions over the weekend. The heat may be especially impactful for vulnerable populations, as many homes and schools may not yet be acclimated or equipped for prolonged heat. Residents are urged to stay hydrated, avoid leaving children or pets in vehicles, and limit outdoor activity during peak afternoon hours.

This warm spell is expected to ease slightly by Friday, with highs dropping into the upper 70s to low 80s across most areas. However, more June heat could follow. Stay tuned to NWS Albany for updates.
