Binghamton, NY – A Flood Watch remains in effect for parts of central New York and northeast Pennsylvania, with excessive rainfall threatening to cause flooding in low-lying areas through Saturday morning.

According to the National Weather Service, areas including Broome, Chenango, Delaware, Otsego, Sullivan, and Tioga counties in New York, as well as Lackawanna, Luzerne, Northern Wayne, Pike, Southern Wayne, and Susquehanna counties in Pennsylvania, are at risk. Heavy rain may lead to rising rivers, creeks, and streams, which could spill over their banks in flood-prone locations.

Flooding is possible in the coming days, with excessive runoff expected to affect waterways. Areas along rivers and smaller creeks should be particularly vigilant, especially those in valleys and other low-lying regions. The threat remains until 12 p.m. Saturday, but residents should stay tuned to updated weather alerts for any additional warnings.

If you live in a flood-prone area, prepare to take action. Make sure to move valuables to higher ground, and be ready to evacuate if necessary. Additionally, avoid driving through flooded roads, and keep an eye out for rising water levels in your area.
