Poughkeepsie, N.Y. – Communities across the Hudson Valley, eastern Catskills, and neighboring regions could see flash flooding by Tuesday night as another round of heavy rain sweeps through the area.

According to the National Weather Service in Albany, a Flood Watch remains in effect through this evening for Litchfield County in Connecticut, Berkshire County in Massachusetts, and 10 counties across eastern New York, including Dutchess, Ulster, Columbia, and Greene. Rainfall totals between 1 and 3 inches are expected this afternoon into tonight, falling on already saturated ground.

Urban flooding and fast-rising streams are possible, particularly near the Esopus and Housatonic rivers, which could reach minor flood stage. Roads with poor drainage, including Route 9 near Poughkeepsie and Route 23 through Great Barrington, may experience water pooling and closures. Local officials advise residents to avoid driving through flooded streets and to monitor alerts.

In Ellenville, Kingston, and North Adams, heavy downpours may coincide with the evening commute, increasing risks. Keep electronic devices charged and prepare for potential basement flooding in low-lying neighborhoods.

More showers are likely into tonight. Additional flood warnings could be issued as storms move across the region.
