New York, NY – A strong storm system will bring heavy rain to parts of New York and Connecticut starting Sunday afternoon. The heaviest rainfall will occur overnight and could total up to 2.25 inches in some areas.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS) in New York, showers will begin in western Orange County by midday. The rain will intensify as it moves eastward through the evening. Eastern areas will likely see the highest rainfall amounts.

Forecasters expect rainfall between 0.75 inches and 2.25 inches, with heavier pockets possible. Flooding could occur in low-lying and poor drainage areas. Drivers should prepare for reduced visibility and wet road conditions.
