New York City, NY – An overnight taxiway collision at LaGuardia Airport left two people dead and more than a dozen injured, disrupting operations into Monday.

According to initial reports, the incident occurred overnight Sunday into Monday and involved Jazz Airlines Flight 646, a CRJ-900 regional jet operating as Air Canada Express, and an airport firetruck. The collision happened on a taxiway, with images from the scene showing heavy damage to the aircraft’s forward section and passengers evacuating onto the rain-soaked tarmac.

Emergency crews responded quickly, assisting injured passengers and securing the area. At least a dozen individuals were reported hurt, though the severity of injuries has not been fully detailed. Authorities have not yet released the identities of those killed.

Airport operations at LaGuardia have been impacted as officials manage the scene and assess taxiway conditions. Travelers may experience delays or disruptions Monday as the investigation continues.

The cause of the collision remains unknown. Aviation authorities are expected to review ground control communications, vehicle movement protocols, and visibility conditions at the time of the crash.
