New York City, NY – An overnight taxiway collision at LaGuardia Airport left two people dead and more than a dozen injured, disrupting operations into Monday.
According to initial reports, the incident occurred overnight Sunday into Monday and involved Jazz Airlines Flight 646, a CRJ-900 regional jet operating as Air Canada Express, and an airport firetruck. The collision happened on a taxiway, with images from the scene showing heavy damage to the aircraft’s forward section and passengers evacuating onto the rain-soaked tarmac.
Emergency crews responded quickly, assisting injured passengers and securing the area. At least a dozen individuals were reported hurt, though the severity of injuries has not been fully detailed. Authorities have not yet released the identities of those killed.
