New York, NY – A powerful weather system is set to bring high winds and a mix of rain and snow to the region beginning Sunday night, with potential travel disruptions and power outages. Wind gusts could reach up to 60 mph, increasing the risk of downed trees and power lines.

According to the National Weather Service, a High Wind Watch is in effect from Sunday evening through Monday afternoon across southeast New York, northeast New Jersey, and southern Connecticut. Wind speeds of 20-30 mph, with gusts up to 60 mph, are expected. Residents are urged to secure loose objects and prepare for possible outages.

Sunday will see rain throughout the day before showers taper off at night. Monday, Washington’s Birthday, will be mostly sunny but windy, with temperatures peaking at 35°F. By Tuesday, conditions will stabilize with sunny skies and a high near 31°F, followed by a colder midweek outlook with increasing snowfall potential Wednesday into Thursday.

Forecasters warn of a significant winter storm next week, possibly bringing heavy snow and bitterly cold conditions. Travelers and commuters should stay updated with the latest forecasts.
