Gretna, Louisiana – Afternoon travel across Gretna could get messy Tuesday, June 3rd, as a line of thunderstorms threatens to roll through the region after 4 p.m.

According to the National Weather Service, there’s a 20% chance of thunderstorms Tuesday afternoon, primarily between 1 and 4 p.m., increasing slightly into the evening. These storms may briefly impact U.S. 90 and surrounding surface streets, with gusty winds and downpours possible. Highs will reach 87°F, and the humidity will push the heat index even higher—classic early June summer weather.

Although most of Tuesday will be dry and warm, drivers and outdoor workers should stay alert between 1 and 6 p.m. when storms could fire up. If thunder roars, move indoors and avoid flooded roadways.

Tuesday night turns mostly clear with lows near 76°F. Wednesday brings a greater 40% chance of afternoon storms—particularly after 1 p.m.—before skies partially clear overnight. Southeast winds will stay light at 5–10 mph.

By Thursday, June’s summer pattern becomes more persistent: highs will climb near 88°F under mostly sunny skies, and by Friday and Saturday, highs near 90°F are expected with daily thunderstorm chances through the weekend.

⚠️ Haze Alert: Wildfire smoke from Canada may bring reduced visibility and marginal air quality across southeast Louisiana through midweek. Sensitive groups should limit prolonged outdoor exposure.
