New Orleans Flood Alert: Minor Flooding Continues Along Mississippi and Pearl Rivers

New Orleans, LA – Flood warnings remain in effect for multiple rivers in Louisiana and Mississippi as minor flooding continues along the Mississippi and Pearl Rivers, according to the National Weather Service (NWS) in New Orleans.

The Mississippi River at Red River Landing is currently experiencing minor flooding, with water levels recorded at 48.5 feet as of Tuesday evening. Flood stage for the area is 48.0 feet. The NWS expects water levels to drop below flood stage early Wednesday afternoon, with further declines forecasted into April. Residents in Pointe Coupee, East Baton Rouge, and West Feliciana Parishes are advised to remain cautious near riverbanks and avoid flooded areas.

In addition, the Pearl River near Pearl River and Bogalusa continues to rise, affecting areas in Hancock, Pearl River, St. Tammany, and Washington Counties. The river at Pearl River crested at 14.5 feet Tuesday night, exceeding its 14.0-foot flood stage. The NWS forecasts that water levels will gradually recede below flood stage by Sunday morning. Minor flooding is impacting secondary roads and properties along the river, including parts of Honey Island Swamp.
