New Orleans, LA – Snowfall and icy road conditions continue to impact southern Louisiana and the Mississippi Gulf Coast as a winter storm warning remains in effect until midnight Tuesday.

According to the National Weather Service in New Orleans, areas including Lower Terrebonne, Lower Lafourche, and Lower Plaquemines parishes in Louisiana could see up to one inch of additional snow accumulation. Mississippi counties, including Harrison and Jackson, are also under the warning, with hazardous roads and bridges posing travel challenges.

Road conditions are expected to remain dangerous through the Wednesday morning commute and could extend into the evening hours. Authorities are urging residents to delay nonessential travel and prepare winter safety kits if driving is unavoidable.

Residents are advised to stay indoors and dress warmly if venturing outside. Frostbite and hypothermia risks increase with prolonged exposure. Emergency supplies, such as blankets, water, and a flashlight, should be on hand.

Travelers can obtain real-time road condition updates by calling 511 in Louisiana and Mississippi. Officials recommend exercising extreme caution and avoiding bridges and overpasses, where icy conditions are most severe.
