Albuquerque, NM – A winter storm warning remains in effect for multiple regions of New Mexico until 6 p.m. MDT today, with snow and gusty winds affecting a large portion of the state. Areas including the Sandia and Manzano Mountains, Central Highlands, and Eastern San Miguel County are expected to receive between 3 to 6 inches of snow, with wind gusts reaching up to 50 mph.

According to the National Weather Service, the snow combined with winds could make travel hazardous, particularly along major highways such as I-25 and I-40. Reduced visibility due to blowing snow could be a significant issue, potentially lowering visibility to less than half a mile in some areas. Residents are advised to take extra precautions while traveling, such as keeping additional food, water, and flashlights in their vehicles.

In the far northeast and east-central parts of the state, including Union and Harding Counties, up to 2 inches of snow are expected, with similar dangerous travel conditions. Snow and gusty winds could bring down tree branches and power lines, posing additional risks.
