Albuquerque, NM – New Mexico residents should prepare for frigid temperatures and additional snow through Thursday, especially along the I-25 corridor. A cold weather advisory remains in effect as frostbite risks rise, and slick roads pose dangers for commuters.

According to the National Weather Service, wind chills could drop as low as 4°F through Wednesday morning in the Middle Rio Grande Valley, including Albuquerque. Snow showers will move back into the region Thursday, potentially adding another 1 to 2 inches of accumulation, particularly in southern areas. Drivers should use caution on untreated roads and overpasses, as freezing conditions will linger into Friday.

Wednesday’s high will reach only 41°F, with clear skies providing little relief overnight as temperatures plunge to 15°F. On Thursday, scattered snow showers are expected during the day, keeping highs near 39°F.

Looking ahead, Friday will bring sunshine with highs in the low 40s, but frigid overnight lows will persist at around 17°F. The weekend promises a slight warm-up, with sunny skies and highs approaching 49°F by Saturday.

Residents are urged to dress in layers, limit outdoor exposure, and ensure pets are kept warm. Avoid using outdoor grills or generators indoors to prevent carbon monoxide poisoning.
