Albuquerque, NM – New Mexico faces increased fire danger as strong winds and dry conditions spread across the state. Eastern and central regions will experience gusts between 40-50 mph, elevating wildfire risks.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Albuquerque, a cold front moving through the state will create dry, breezy conditions. The greatest fire risk is near Farmington, where low humidity and high winds could rapidly spread flames.

Winds will peak in the evening, with easterly gap winds affecting the Albuquerque Metro area overnight. The storm track has shifted north, but gusty conditions will persist through Wednesday.

Residents should avoid outdoor burning and secure loose objects to prevent wind-related hazards. Fire officials warn that rapid fire growth is possible in dry brush areas.

Temperatures will remain mild, with highs in the 60s and 70s. However, the dry air will enhance fire concerns statewide. The public is advised to stay alert for further weather updates and fire warnings.
