Albuquerque, N.M. – Triple-digit heat will bake central New Mexico through the end of the week, with Albuquerque expected to reach 104°F by Thursday—its hottest temperature of the year so far.

According to the National Weather Service in Albuquerque, highs will range from 99°F on Sunday to 102°F on Wednesday, peaking Thursday afternoon. A 20% chance of isolated afternoon thunderstorms remains in the forecast through Monday, with lightning and brief downpours possible after 3 p.m.

The heat dome will intensify over Bernalillo and Sandoval counties, affecting outdoor work, road surfaces, and power usage. North winds today will shift to calm overnight before returning from the southeast Monday afternoon. Low temperatures will offer little relief, dipping only into the upper 60s to low 70s each night.

Residents should limit time outdoors between 2 and 6 p.m., stay hydrated, and check on vulnerable neighbors and pets. Cooling centers may open if temperatures stay elevated beyond Thursday.

The heat is expected to persist through at least Saturday, with more triple-digit days likely. Additional advisories could be issued if conditions worsen.
