Albuquerque, NM – Critical fire weather conditions will persist through early next week.

According to the National Weather Service in Albuquerque, a spring-like pattern will bring strong winds and low humidity, creating critical fire conditions. Winds will strengthen Sunday and continue into Tuesday, with gusts reaching 50 mph. Dry air will worsen the fire threat, especially in central and eastern New Mexico.

Monday is expected to be the most hazardous day, with widespread critical fire weather conditions. Residents should avoid outdoor burning and secure any loose outdoor objects.

A small chance of light snow exists in the higher elevations late Saturday night into Sunday morning. However, strong winds and dry conditions will be the dominant concern statewide.
