Philadelphia, PA – High winds and light snow are expected to hit the Philadelphia area starting Friday evening, creating potentially hazardous conditions. A Wind Advisory is in effect until tonight, with gusts reaching 50 mph in some areas, particularly along the New Jersey coastline and higher elevations.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS) Mount Holly, light snow accumulation will begin late Friday into Saturday morning. While most areas in the region will see less than an inch, southern parts of Delaware could receive up to 2 inches. Drivers on I-95 and other major roadways should exercise caution due to potential slick conditions.

Friday will start with increasing clouds and a high near 36 degrees, followed by overnight lows of 26 degrees as snow moves into the region. Wind gusts will taper off by Saturday morning, transitioning to sunny skies with a high of 38 degrees.

The NWS also issued a Special Weather Statement for low water levels along the tidal Delaware River. Levels could drop by 2 to 3 feet below normal during low tide, potentially disrupting navigation. Boaters and maritime operators should plan accordingly for expected low tides at 4:13 p.m. today and 5:06 a.m. Friday.

Looking ahead, Sunday brings sunny skies and a high of 38 degrees, with temperatures rising slightly to 39 degrees by Monday. Despite the clear weather, northwest winds will keep the area breezy throughout the weekend.

Stay informed with the latest updates and take necessary precautions, particularly during the windy and snowy conditions expected overnight.
