New Jersey, NJ – New Jersey residents are under a smoke advisory as large wildfires continue to burn across several counties. The New Jersey Forest Fire Service warns that smoke from these fires could impact air quality for several days.

Active wildfires include the Halloween Wildfire in Cumberland County’s Downe Township, Bethany Run Wildfire in Camden County, and Tea Time Hill Wildfire in Burlington County, among others. Fires in Morris, Ocean, Essex, Gloucester, and Camden counties are in various containment stages.

The extreme dryness has fueled these blazes, allowing fires to burn deep into soil layers. Overnight, smoke levels may worsen as humidity traps smoke closer to the ground, according to officials. Smoke will persist until heavy rainfall arrives.

New Jersey Forest Fire Service crews are working to strengthen containment lines and extinguish hotspots. Residents with respiratory conditions are advised to keep windows shut and stay indoors.

For updates or questions, residents can contact New Jersey’s Forest Fire Service at 877-WARN-DEP (877-927-6337).
