Philadelphia, PA – Unseasonably warm weather is pushing spring temperatures into the low 80s across Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Delaware this weekend, arriving roughly two weeks earlier than average for much of the region.

According to the National Weather Service in Mount Holly, Philadelphia is expected to hit 80°F today, far surpassing the seasonal norm of 57°F. Allentown, Trenton, Reading, and Wilmington are also forecast to reach or exceed 80°F, with recorded highs topping 81°F in some locations.

This level of warmth is more typical of late April, but many cities—including Atlantic City and Georgetown—are seeing their first 80° day weeks ahead of schedule. Historical data shows average first 80°F days typically fall in mid-April to early May, depending on location.

Officials urge residents to stay hydrated, limit strenuous activity during peak afternoon heat, and remain weather-aware as fluctuating spring patterns can trigger rapid changes. While no severe storms are currently forecast, sudden warmth can lead to increased pollen counts and discomfort for sensitive individuals.

Despite the unusual timing, these early spring warmups are not unprecedented, with similar events recorded in 2012 and 1998. The NWS continues to monitor for further records as the region warms ahead of schedule.
