Philadelphia, PA – A winter weather advisory has been issued for parts of Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware, and Maryland from Wednesday night into Thursday morning, with ice and snow expected to create hazardous travel conditions.

According to the National Weather Service in Mount Holly, NJ, the advisory begins at 9 p.m. Wednesday for central and northern Delaware, northeast Maryland, and southern New Jersey, lasting until 9 a.m. Thursday. In northern New Jersey and east-central Pennsylvania, the advisory starts at midnight and extends until noon Thursday.

Forecasters predict up to one inch of snow and sleet accumulation, with ice accumulations ranging from one-tenth to two-tenths of an inch in some areas. The icy conditions could make roads slick, particularly during the Thursday morning commute.

Officials urge drivers to slow down and exercise caution. Travelers can check road conditions by calling 511 in their respective states.

Residents should prepare for potential delays and allow extra time for travel, as freezing rain and sleet may impact highways and local roads overnight.
