Rain is set to move into Massachusetts early Thursday morning, creating potentially hazardous conditions for Thanksgiving Day travelers across the state. Southern New England, including areas along I-90 and Route 128, could see wet and slippery roads during peak travel hours.

According to the National Weather Service, precipitation will begin as early as 4 a.m. in western areas and expand across Boston by 7 a.m. Rainfall could be heavy at times, with up to an inch expected throughout the day. Winds will remain light but may gust up to 21 mph in some areas, especially near the coast. Travelers are urged to allow extra time and use caution when driving during the rain.

Thanksgiving Day temperatures will hover around 49 degrees in Boston, dropping to 34 degrees overnight. Rain will taper off late Thursday night, giving way to clearer skies on Friday. Sunny conditions are forecast for Friday and Saturday, with highs of 47 and 43 degrees, respectively, and overnight lows near freezing.

Sunday will see mostly sunny skies, with temperatures reaching 40 degrees before another cool night. Those planning outdoor events or returning from holiday travel are encouraged to monitor updated forecasts and prepare for colder conditions as the weekend progresses.
