Boston, MA – Heat and humidity will grip Massachusetts through Monday, with temperatures climbing into the 90s across much of the state before cooler air arrives midweek.
According to the National Weather Service in Boston, high temperatures will surge on Sunday and Monday, with cities like Worcester, Providence, and Lowell expected to hit 90–92°F by early Monday afternoon. The most intense heat is forecast between 12 p.m. and 6 p.m. Monday, when humidity will push heat index values into the mid-90s in some inland areas.
Worcester will see temperatures rise from the mid-80s Sunday to 90°F Monday, while Providence could peak at 92°F. New Bedford and Springfield will also flirt with 90°F. Overnight lows will remain in the 70s, offering little overnight relief.
Residents are urged to limit outdoor activity during peak heat hours, stay hydrated, and check on vulnerable individuals. Cooling centers may be activated in several cities. The heat will be most dangerous in urban centers and for those without access to air conditioning.
By Tuesday, highs will drop into the 80s, and by Wednesday, most of Massachusetts will return to near-seasonable temperatures in the mid-70s to low 80s.
More heat alerts are unlikely after Tuesday, but stay tuned as conditions may shift later in the week.
