Nevada Winter Weather Alert: Up to 8 Inches of Snow, 50 MPH Winds Until Thursday Night

Las Vegas, NV – A winter weather advisory remains in effect for parts of Nevada and northwestern Arizona, with snow and high winds expected through late Thursday night.

According to the National Weather Service in Las Vegas, snowfall of 3 to 5 inches is anticipated above 5,500 feet in Esmeralda and Central Nye County, Lincoln County, and the Sheep Range. Higher elevations near Lida Summit may receive up to 8 inches. Winds could gust as high as 50 mph, reducing visibility to less than a quarter-mile at times. Impacted areas include Goldfield Summit, Lida Summit, Oak Springs Summit, and Highway 319 east of Panaca.

In Arizona’s Northwest Deserts, including Kingman and the Hualapai Mountains, snow accumulations of up to 5 inches are expected above 5,000 feet. Winds may reach gusts of 45 mph, potentially causing tree damage and hazardous road conditions. The advisory for this region is in effect from noon Thursday until 2 a.m. MST Friday.

Travelers should anticipate slick roads, particularly on bridges and overpasses. Officials urge motorists to slow down and use caution. For real-time road updates, call 511 or visit the National Weather Service website.
