Las Vegas, Nev. – Storm chances return to Nevada on Saturday, but cloud cover is expected to keep much of the Las Vegas Valley quiet, with stronger storms developing in the mountains and outlying desert areas.

According to the National Weather Service in Las Vegas, lingering clouds from overnight storms will limit heating and instability in central Clark County. This setup shifts the threat toward higher terrain, where showers and thunderstorms are more likely to form during the afternoon and evening.

Forecasters warn that any storms that do develop could bring strong outflow winds, pockets of heavy rain, and frequent lightning. Flash flooding remains a concern in slot canyons, washes, and burn scars across southern Nevada. Rural roadways, including U.S. 93 north of Las Vegas and State Route 160 near Pahrump, could see sudden water rises if storms pass overhead.

Residents are urged to monitor rapidly changing skies and avoid low-lying areas if heavy rain develops. Lightning will also be a hazard for anyone outdoors in the mountains or desert.

Storm chances continue into Saturday night, with additional updates possible if conditions shift.
