Reno, Nevada – Triple-digit sunshine and rising fire risk are returning to Northern Nevada as temperatures climb sharply through the weekend. Reno is expected to reach 88°F by Friday afternoon and could push past 90°F by Saturday, with minimal wind to cool the region.
According to the National Weather Service in Reno, a prolonged period of sunny and dry conditions will settle over the area starting Friday, June 6. Daytime highs will climb from 88°F Friday to 91°F Saturday, topping out at 93°F on Monday. Winds will remain light, around 5 mph, contributing to stagnant air and elevated UV exposure. Fire weather risks are expected to increase — especially in brush-covered or undeveloped areas along U.S. Route 395 and I-580.
Residents and outdoor workers should take precautions including limiting midday activity, wearing sunscreen, and staying hydrated. While skies will remain mostly clear through Tuesday night, overnight lows will hover in the upper 50s to low 60s, offering little overnight relief.
This pattern marks the first extended stretch of summer-like heat for Reno in June and could stress those without reliable cooling. Prepare now by checking air conditioning units, reviewing fire prevention tips, and planning early morning errands or hikes.
Hot, dry weather continues into early next week with no rain in sight. Stay tuned for additional advisories if fire danger or heat warnings are issued.
