Las Vegas, Nevada – Triple-digit heat is making a fierce comeback across southern Nevada this weekend, with Death Valley expected to reach a blistering 115°F on Sunday and Lake Mead not far behind at 108°F.

According to the National Weather Service Las Vegas, a ridge of high pressure is building in from the southeast, bringing dangerously dry conditions and widespread heat from Saturday through Sunday. Recreational hotspots like the Valley of Fire (106°F), Red Rock Canyon (98°F), and Lake Havasu (107°F) will offer little relief, prompting warnings for anyone planning outdoor activities.

Road surfaces and hiking trails across lower elevations will become dangerously hot by midday, with temperatures climbing above 100°F as early as 10 a.m. Visitors are urged to avoid strenuous activity, carry extra water, and use sun protection. While Mt. Charleston offers a cooler escape—topping out at 82°F Sunday—even higher elevations like Whitney Portal will still feel summer’s grip at 77°F.

This heat wave comes as monsoonal moisture remains absent, increasing wildfire risks and dehydration hazards. No rain is expected through early next week.

Temperatures will stay high into Monday, with updated heat advisories possible.
