Reno, Nevada – Triple-digit sun, dusty roads, and windy nights are back on deck for Northern Nevada as summer-like heat surges midweek. Reno drivers, especially along I-580, should watch for gusty crosswinds and rising fire weather risks starting Wednesday afternoon.
According to the National Weather Service, Reno will see a high near 89°F on Wednesday, followed by increasing west winds between 15–25 mph by nightfall. That breezy pattern may persist into Thursday evening as temperatures climb into the low 90s. Wind-sensitive areas, including stretches of U.S. 395 and I-580, could experience visibility drops and roadside debris.
Thursday and Friday bring mostly sunny skies and continued heat, with Friday topping out near 95°F—the hottest day in the upcoming stretch. Winds ease slightly but remain present, especially during the evening hours.
By Saturday and Sunday, Reno stays warm with highs around 90°F and a slight increase in overnight cloud cover. Sunday night into Monday may offer modest relief, with lows dipping into the upper 50s and daytime temps falling into the mid-70s by Monday.
Residents should stay hydrated, limit strenuous outdoor activities during peak heat, and secure loose outdoor items as gusts build. No rain is expected, but dry conditions paired with wind raise early-season fire concerns.
Winds remain a factor through Thursday night, with a possible cooldown by Monday. Watch for updated advisories from the National Weather Service.
