Las Vegas, NV – A cold front will bring sharply lower temperatures to southern Nevada through the weekend, with nighttime lows dropping to the 20s. The National Weather Service is urging residents and travelers along US-95 to prepare for freezing conditions, especially during overnight hours.

According to the National Weather Service, Thursday’s high near 60°F will give way to cooler nights, with a low of 37°F expected tonight. Temperatures will steadily decline, reaching 29°F by Sunday night. Clear skies and light winds are expected, but the cold will be notable, especially for those unprepared for the drop.

Daytime highs will remain mild, ranging from 60°F on Friday to 52°F by Monday. Travelers are advised to ensure their vehicles are winter-ready, as freezing temperatures can affect tire pressure and battery performance. Those using outdoor heating equipment or portable generators should follow safety guidelines to prevent carbon monoxide poisoning.

Weekend highlights include sunny days with clear skies through Martin Luther King Jr. Day. While Sunday night marks the coldest period, conditions are expected to gradually warm into next week.

Residents are encouraged to check on vulnerable neighbors, ensure pets have warm shelter, and protect outdoor plants from frost. Anyone planning outdoor activities during the day should still layer up for cooler evenings.
