Las Vegas, NV – A dangerous heat wave is tightening its grip on southern Nevada, with temperatures in Las Vegas expected to reach a blistering 115°F by Thursday, triggering a summer weather emergency across the region.

According to the National Weather Service in Las Vegas, highs will climb each day starting Sunday, July 6, with temperatures near 105°F, then intensifying to 108°F Monday and Tuesday. By midweek, daily highs will surge above 110°F, peaking Thursday at 115°F, marking the hottest stretch of the summer so far.

The prolonged triple-digit heat is prompting warnings for residents, especially those without reliable cooling or who work outdoors. Local officials urge people to stay hydrated, limit sun exposure between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m., and check on neighbors, children, and pets. Cooling centers remain open across Clark County, and NV Energy is advising residents to conserve electricity to avoid overloading the power grid.

Travelers along I-15, I-515, and the 215 Beltway should expect vehicle overheating, tire blowouts, and high surface temperatures. Anyone driving during peak heat should carry water and avoid leaving passengers or pets in parked cars.

This heat wave is expected to hold through at least Friday, with no significant cooling overnight. Lows will hover in the mid-80s, offering little relief.
