Reno, Nevada – A spring storm system will bring a messy mix of rain and snow to Reno starting early Saturday, with travel conditions expected to worsen along I-580 and higher elevation roads. Residents should prepare for slick surfaces, gusty winds, and drastically cooler temperatures through the weekend.

According to the National Weather Service in Reno, rain and snow showers will likely begin before 8 a.m. Saturday and continue into the evening. Snow levels will drop from 5,100 feet in the morning to around 6,100 feet during the day, potentially impacting foothill communities. Winds will shift from west to east and increase to 10 mph by Saturday night.

By Sunday, another round of scattered showers is expected before skies begin to clear late in the day. Daytime highs will remain cool, near 54°F. Conditions will improve into Monday, with sunny skies and temperatures climbing to 67°F, but overnight lows will dip into the 30s—raising frost concerns by Tuesday night.

⚠️ What to Do:
Avoid unnecessary travel Saturday, especially in the early morning. Charge phones, layer up, and monitor road conditions on I-580. This system may resemble early April’s storm that caused minor delays in Washoe County.
