Las Vegas, Nevada – Southern Nevada is bracing for dangerous heat Tuesday, with temperatures expected to surge past 110°F across much of the region, prompting an Extreme Heat Watch from the National Weather Service.
According to NWS Las Vegas, the heat alert spans from Tuesday morning through Tuesday evening, impacting areas including the Las Vegas Valley, Death Valley National Park, Lake Mead, Pahrump, and Barstow. Las Vegas could hit 110°F, while Furnace Creek in Death Valley may soar to a sweltering 120°F.
Cities like Mesquite and Lake Mead will also face highs between 110°F and 115°F. Residents are urged to limit time outdoors, stay hydrated, and avoid strenuous activity during peak heat. Car interiors can become deadly within minutes — children and pets must never be left inside vehicles.
Power demand may rise sharply as residents seek relief in air conditioning, and those without access to cooling are at high risk for heat-related illness. Check on neighbors, especially seniors and those living alone.
The heat wave is expected to be brief but intense. More watches or warnings may follow if temperatures remain elevated into midweek.
