Omaha, NE – Frigid conditions will grip Nebraska this Thanksgiving, with temperatures struggling to reach freezing and snow possible by the weekend. Early morning holiday travelers along I-80 and nearby corridors should prepare for lows in the 20s on Thursday and the teens by Friday.

According to the National Weather Service, Thursday will see a high near 35 with sunny skies, but cold northwest winds could make it feel colder. By Friday morning, lows will plunge to the mid-teens, with daytime highs only reaching 30 degrees in most areas. Shoppers venturing out for Black Friday deals should dress in layers and prepare for bitter conditions.

Friday night brings a 30% chance of snow after midnight, with accumulations likely light but impactful for drivers. Saturday remains cold, with highs peaking near 29 degrees and another slight chance of snow early. Overnight lows on Saturday could dip as far as 12 degrees.

The cold pattern extends into Sunday, with highs struggling to rise above freezing across the state. With these conditions, travelers and outdoor enthusiasts are urged to monitor the forecast and use caution during early-morning commutes or holiday plans.

This week’s weather serves as a reminder to check vehicle winter preparedness and ensure proper cold-weather attire. More updates can be found at weather.gov or local National Weather Service bulletins.
