Hastings, Nebraska – A stretch of scattered showers and storms returns to south-central Nebraska Thursday and Friday, though the risk of severe weather remains low, with sunny skies and rising temps expected by the weekend.

According to the National Weather Service in Hastings, today will be quiet with highs in the low to mid-70s and light southeast winds around 10 to 15 mph. The next disturbance moves in Thursday, bringing a 40–60% chance of thunderstorms across much of the region, especially in the afternoon and evening hours.

Lincoln and Grand Island could see isolated showers by late Thursday, with brief downpours and gusts up to 20 mph possible. Friday brings a mix of sun and clouds, with temperatures edging upward into the upper 70s. While showers may linger early, most areas will dry out by midday.

By Saturday and Sunday, highs will climb into the mid-80s with sunshine returning and winds shifting from the southwest. Residents planning outdoor events this weekend should prepare for warm, breezy conditions.

Additional storm chances may return next week, but for now, the severe weather threat stays minimal through Friday.
