Omaha, NE – Strong storms target eastern Nebraska and western Iowa today, bringing rain, hail, and gusty winds ahead of a Sunday cooldown. The National Weather Service issued a hazardous weather outlook for the region, warning of localized flooding, downed branches, and slick roads—especially along Interstate 80 and surrounding routes.

According to the National Weather Service Omaha/Valley office, thunderstorms are expected throughout Saturday, peaking late afternoon and early evening. A marginal risk of severe weather exists for cities like Omaha, Council Bluffs, and Lincoln, with wind gusts up to 30 mph and potential hail. Residents are urged to secure loose items and monitor alerts. Spotters are not expected to be activated, but reports of severe weather are welcomed.

By early Sunday, rain may transition briefly to snow in northeast Nebraska, with less than half an inch expected. Winds will remain strong, making for chilly and breezy conditions into the start of the week.
