Hastings, Nebraska – Patchy frost could greet early risers Saturday across south central Nebraska, with cooler temperatures and rain chances following into Sunday night.
According to the National Weather Service in Hastings, a mix of clouds and sun will hold highs in the upper 50s to low 60s on Saturday. Overnight lows will dip into the 30s, bringing a 20 to 30 percent chance of showers after midnight, especially near the Kansas border.
Rain is expected to spread north from Kansas into Nebraska by early Sunday. Though totals will be light—just a few hundredths to a tenth of an inch—showers may be widespread. Cooler highs in the upper 40s to low 60s are forecast across the state Sunday, before rain chances diminish from west to east in the evening.
With skies clearing overnight and winds calming, frost is likely again Sunday night into Monday morning. Lows could fall to near freezing across much of south central and eastern Nebraska. Residents should cover sensitive plants and unplug garden hoses to prevent damage.
More updates are expected if frost advisories or rain totals increase. Stay tuned through Sunday night for the latest alerts.
